Note that the distance between these two places is around 43 kilometres. The approximate Brunei to Labuan ferry time is 2 hours.
Brunei Labuan Ferry Information
The ferry from Brunei to Labuan leaves from the Serasa Ferry Terminal in Muara. To reach the terminal from Bandar Seri Begawan, you can take a taxi. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes and will cost around 40 BND. There are also much cheaper buses. You can find more information on the bus here.
Before the pandemic, ferries ran much more regularly and you could buy tickets online. This is slowly improving and, as of May 2026, there is a ferry one or two times a day. You can also buy your tickets for Labuan to Brunei online (but unfortunately not for the return journey). For car ferries or travelling from Brunei to Labuan, you can still only buy tickets at their ticket counter at the ferry terminals.
If you’re after a car ferry from Brunei to Labuan, I believe the MV Joy Star leaves from the Serasa Ferry Terminal at 12:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and does the return journey on the same days at 9:30am. However, I am not 100% sure this is still the case in 2026. If you know, please let us know here and we’ll update this article.
Brunei To Labuan Ferry Schedule

In terms of the Brunei to Labuan boat schedule, there are only car ferries on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The ferry departs from the Serasa Ferry Terminal in Brunei around 12:30pm for Labuan. The journey takes around two hours.

Sometimes, this Facebook page posts the latest schedule but they have not recently.
There are also passenger ferries once or twice a day. These are reported to leave daily at 8:30am and also at 1pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday and at 4:30pm on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Unfortunately, there is no way to buy these online at present unlike the Labuan to Brunei tickets (find link below).

Brunei To Labuan Ticket Price
When it comes to the Brunei to Labuan ferry ticket price, the ferry Brunei to Labuan fare cost is around BND$25 per adult and $15 for 3 – 12 year olds.
Cars start at BDN$80 and the driver is included in this price.
Ferry Labuan To Brunei

If you want to take the ferry from Labuan to Brunei that is, thankfully, a little easier.
For the ferry schedule – Labuan to Brunei, there are now ferries daily. The ferry schedule does vary daily, but there is usually one leaving Labuan around 9am (sometimes 12pm instead) and 3pm. This journey also takes around two hours. It costs RM78 for an adult after fees.

Boarding is 30 minutes before your departure time. Tickets are often only available a week in advance.
If you’re after a car ferry from Labuan to Brunei, there was a car ferry about 9:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. The cost to take a car starts at RM225 and includes the driver. I am unsure if this is still running in 2026.
Serasa Ferry Terminal

If you’re in Brunei and you want to catch a ferry to Labuan, head to Serasa Ferry Terminal. Note that this is just outside the town of Muara.
To reach Muara, it takes approximately an hour if you’re travelling by bus from the city, which is the Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital. Alternatively, you can also get a taxi from the city centre.
From the terminal to Bandar Seri Begawan you’re best to take a taxi. However, you may be able to get a bus from here into town also. If there isn’t a bus available on arrival, you can walk 30 minutes to the town of Muara and catch a bus from there. Find more information here.
Serasa Ferry Terminal offers basic facilities for the convenience of its passengers. There’s a money changer inside the terminal. The port is also well-maintained and clean with fast customs clearance. Additionally, you can also find several taxis outside.
Labuan International Ferry Terminal

Labuan International Ferry Terminal is within the city centre.
Several public bus services go to the terminal. You can take the bus from Labuan Central Bus Station inside UTC Central Market. This travel time takes approximately five minutes.
Since Labuan is a duty-free zone, you can shop at the duty-free shops before departure. Other facilities include public washrooms and toilets, restaurants, ticketing counters, souvenir shops and free parking lots.
